The New Rules of Open Leadership & Open Leadership Challenges. A recap of the five “New Rules of Open Leadership” from Chapter 1 as well as eight questions about the challenges that social technologies create for leadership.
Openness Audit. As described in Chapter 2, one of the most important steps to take toward open leadership is doing an audit of how open you are. The “Ten Elements of Openness” provides a starting point to understand how open you are in your information sharing and decision making. Assess the openness of your organization and use it as a starting point for your open strategy. Are you as open as you need to be to achieve your goals? Includes a brief explanation of the Ten Elements of Openness, graphics for your internal use, and a PDF of the assessment tool that you can use throughout your organization.
Engagement Pyramid In Chapter 3 of “Open Leadership”, I discuss how people—both customers and employees—are engaging with your company, brand, product, or even in a broad topic. To help illustrate this, I use the Engagement Pyramid, which is made up of five levels, with each level representing a higher degree of engagement.
Benefits and Lifetime Value Calculator Chapter 4 examines how each of the different open-driven objectives create value for the organization. These spreadsheets contain the data used in the examples, including a 15 year spreadsheet that calculates a new customer lifetime value that reflects the value of being open.
Social Media Policy Directory As detailed in Chapter 5, companies need to put in place the policies, processes, and procedures that will help you manage openness. Put another way, you have to have a plan on how you will in effect, control openness.
